Erik is, and likely always will be a very angry man. Rage fuels him like nothing else, and even with Charles' insistence that true control is somewhere between rage and serenity, Erik knows that he works best from that ironclad fury.

For years his sole purpose was killing Sebastian Shaw, a man he knew as Dr. Schmidt, the man who had, in a way, created him. He did manage this, though he managed it only to find that it didn't make his life any more complete.

His codename, Magneto, is something of a misnomer, because all metal bends to his will, regardless of whether or not it has magnetic properties, he can control it all, from the smallest flecks of gold dust to the biggest pieces of scrap iron.

Erik is also one of the world's few true survivors, he will persevere whatever the cost, he firmly believes that the humans who don't already openly hate and fear him do so in private, or soon will. In his mind, this is simply the nature of inferior creatures. As far as he's concerned, he is the better man and he's intent on building the better world for himself and his kind.

Despite all of this, he's not really a bad guy, he's just sort of the epitome of the road to hell being paved with good intentions.
